Bihar — a state often known for its acumen in politics — is now showing its entrepreneurial spirit. From co-working to agritech startups — Bihar startups are bringing modern solutions to ensure entrepreneurship is not considered only a ‘metro’ phenomenon.
Dr Niraj Jha — who received training in the emergency care segment — says the emergency care system is weak across India. For example, we mostly find junior doctors in the emergency care section, but we need the most senior doctors in place because one doesn’t know what case would come in.

According to a study (1), 70% of citizens overpaid for ambulances, 36% for oxygen; 19% for medicines, and 13% for RT-PCR tests during the deadly Covid second wave in India. A rise in Covid-19 cases raised the need for ambulances for not only transporting patients to the hospital but also emergency medical care and transferring dead bodies for last rites, this in turn caused a scarcity of ambulances for patients.
Globally, the Covid pandemic had an impact on healthcare and GDP; but, because of India’s population, diversity, and geographical complexity, the effects were particularly severe. It became urgently necessary to lessen the strain on the healthcare industry and build a more sustainable system. One such step is the adoption of EVs as emergency support vehicles.
